Zoe's first growth spurt!

Our little girl turned 3 weeks old last week and hit her first milestone, her 3 week growth spurt! So that meant that mommy went from feeding her every 4 hours or so to every hour or hour and a half! What a long week! Last night after about 5 days of 'spurting' she was back to her pre growth spurt, super angelic self and slept for 5 hours straight! It was fantastic and we were sooo grateful to get some sleep! But we both decided that a few days of sleeplessness is a small price to pay for someone so cute.

Zoe's 2 Week Check Up

My little girl is growing so fast I can hardly believe it! It really seems like she's only been here with us for a few days, but last friday she turned 2 weeks old and last thursday she had her first doctor appointment. The doctor said that she was doing great and in the almost two weeks since we had left the hospital she'd gained 9 ounces and grew an inch and a half taller! We were thrilled and relieved to hear she was doing so great. She was a perfect angel the entire doctor visit and didn't cry at all until the nurse pricked her heel for the PKU test. My poor Zoe! She was just miserable getting that done. Her 2 month appointment will be here before we know it, and after watching her cry during the PKU it might break my heart seeing her get her first shots.

Zoe's Footprints & First Bath

I was so glad that Jake got Zoe's first footprints and bath on video! I missed seeing her get them done in person because I was recuperating in my hospital room, being given pain meds, getting my stomach kneaded by the nurses and eating my first cold turkey sandwich in 9 months. I was totally bummed that I missed seeing her have her first bath and get her footprints taken, but it was great to finally get to eat something after hours of flavored ice!

Our Sweet Zoe Is Here!

On January 23rd, after 21 hours of labor our beautiful little girl came into the world at 12:03 am weighing 7 pounds 4 ounces and measuring 19 inches long. It only took about a second for us to fall madly in love with her. We decided to name her Zoe Elora Smith. She was going to be Zoe Jane, but once we saw her Zoe Jane just seemed more cute and she seemed more beautiful and elegant. So her daddy decided he loved Zoe Elora ( like the baby princess in Willow) for our little baby and it seemed to fit her, so we made it official the week after she was born. Every day we've spent with her has been more wonderful than any day before we met her, and I thank God every day for sending us an angel.

Zoe's Nursery!

I'm finally posting some pictures of the baby's nursery! It's almost finished, we're just a mattress, comforter and some decorations away from it being done (thanks to my mom for keeping all of my old baby furniture and helping us paint everything)! So in the next few months while she sleeps in our room we'll finish it up and I'll get the updated pictures posted. I think it looks pretty cute.

Camp Sara

So it appears our little Zoe likes to procrastinate as much as her parents do, and has set up camp in my uterus for an undetermined period of time. Sleep has become a distant memory, but she is giving us some extra time to work on the house! So hopefully in a few more days we'll get to meet our little baby and she won't decide to show up too far past her due date. Mom is really, reaallly tired!

New Years Eve

We went to my Mom's giant New Years Eve party again this year and had a great time. I felt kind of like a giant, swollen, pregnant beach ball but it was great hanging out with the family. Jake did a shot of water to celebrate another year of sobriety, we played games all night and ate ourselves sick. It was really fun. We were kind of hoping Zoe might decide to make an early appearance that night, but no such luck....
